badania.org is my independent practice for custom psychometric test development: diagnostic and research panels built to order for clinics, research teams and organizations that need an instrument that does not exist off the shelf. It is where the academic side of my work (construct definition, scoring, norming, validation) meets a deployed system that staff actually use.
Most measurement problems I am brought in on are specific. A team needs to assess one particular thing, in one particular population, under real constraints, and report it in a way a clinician or researcher can defend. badania.org owns both halves of that problem, the psychometrics and the software, so the client never receives a half-built instrument.
What the practice covers
- Instrument construction: defining the construct, writing and editing items, choosing the factor structure and response model.
- Psychometrics: reliability and validity, item analysis, norms (sten, T-score, percentile) and cutoff scores.
- Scoring and reporting: automatic scoring, interpretive profiles, and PDF reports ready for clinical or research use.
- Panel architecture: the test engine, an admin panel, roles and permissions, data export and integration.
- Security and GDPR: encryption of special-category data, need-to-know access, an audit trail, compliance designed in from the first commit.
- Analysis and validation: CTT, IRT and SEM modelling, validation studies, and reliable change analysis for repeated testing.
The same person defines the construct, designs the scoring and signs off on the deployed system, which keeps the psychometrics and the software consistent with each other.
The first engagement: KPS
The first badania.org engagement is the KPS forensic-psychiatry diagnostic panel, a custom assessment system for Klinika Psychiatrii Sądowej. It runs a battery of 10 standardized and custom clinical instruments through one declarative engine, with norms, clinical cutoffs, reliable-change tracking and protection for special-category health data.
