badania.org

Founder & Principal Psychometrician Psychometrics badania.org

badania.org is my independent practice for custom psychometric test development — diagnostic and research panels built to order, for clinics, research teams, and organizations that need a measurement tool that doesn’t exist off the shelf yet. It’s where the academic side of my work — construct definition, scoring, norming, validation — meets the engineering side: a working, deployed system that staff actually use.

Most measurement problems I’m brought in on aren’t “pick a questionnaire.” They’re “we need to assess this specific thing, in this specific population, under these specific constraints, and report it in a way a clinician or researcher can defend.” That’s a psychometric consultant’s problem before it’s a software problem — and badania.org exists to own both halves rather than hand the client a half-built instrument.

What I build

I run the whole arc of a measurement tool, from the methodology down to the deployed panel:

  • Instrument construction — defining the construct, writing and editing items, deciding the factor structure and response model.
  • Psychometricsreliability and validity, item analysis, normalization (sten, ten, percentile, T-score), and cutoff scores.
  • Scoring and reporting — automatic scoring, interpretive profiles, and clean PDF reports ready for clinical or research use.
  • Panel architecture — the test engine itself, an admin panel, roles and permissions, data export, and integration with existing systems.
  • Security and RODO — encryption of special-category data, need-to-know access control, an audit trail, and RODO compliance designed in from the first commit.
  • Analysis and validation — psychometric modelling (CTT, IRT, SEM), validation studies, and assessing whether a change in a person’s score over time is real or just noise (a reliable change index).

The differentiator is that these aren’t separate vendors stitched together. The same person who defines the construct also designs the scoring and signs off on the deployed system, so the psychometrics and the software stay consistent with each other.

The flagship: KPS

The first badania.org engagement is the KPS forensic-psychiatry diagnostic panel — a custom forensic psychological assessment system for Klinika Psychiatrii Sądowej. It runs a battery of around ten standardized and custom clinical instruments through a single declarative test engine, with proper norms and clinical cutoffs, reliable-change tracking over repeated testing, and RODO Article 9 protection for special-category health data. It’s live for the clinic at kps.badania.org, and it’s the clearest example of what the practice does: one measurement system, built from the ground up, for a context where the measurement has to hold up.

If you have a measurement problem that an off-the-shelf instrument can’t solve — clinical, research, or organizational — that’s exactly the kind of work badania.org takes on. More on the engagement model is on the badania.org site, and the broader consulting context is in my CV.
